About this Concert
The spectacular season concludes with Igor Stravinsky’s mythical and enchanting The Firebird. The rarely performed full ballet score launched the young Stravinsky to international fame, now widely considered the most influential composer of the twentieth century.
Another highlight is renowned British composer Frederick Delius’ only Piano Concerto, featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Mark Bebbington. And closing the season in Beethoven’s honor is one of his most admired short orchestral works, the spirited Coriolan Overture, based on the tragic story of rebellious Roman General Coriolanus.
