CRITERIA
The awards recognize leaders, individuals, companies, and other organizations that have shaped Music, Arts, and Culture in Broward County with their exceptional innovative accomplishments in the African American community, along with improvements and support in alignment with South Florida Symphony Orchestra’s mission to delight, inspire, and educate the communities we serve through music, Arts and Culture.
YOUR NOMINATION COUNTS
Nominate your friend, colleague, client, company, or employee who deserves to be honored! Also, we would love to award those deserving individuals or entities whose tireless efforts may not have been publically acknowledged before. Please include tangible documentation of their widespread contributions and nominate early!

AWARD SPECIFICATIONS
There are up to six Honorees at the Porgy and Bess Gala Awards based on the theme (two maximum Honorees for each award), Leaders of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow that have significantly impacted Music, Arts, and Culture for Broward County. Each award has a slight addition to the criteria for the overall description. During submission, you will see each award along with the specific criteria listed above.
Pioneer Award
The Pioneer Award will recognize past contributions. This will give homage to “Leaders of Yesterday” including persons who may not have been previously awarded for their contributions but have aided in the strong foundation of Music, Arts, and Culture in Broward County.
Pinnacle Award
The Pinnacle Award will recognize current contributions. This will give homage to “Leaders of Today” including persons who may not have been previously awarded for their contributions but are at the top of their careers and progress in Music, Arts, and Culture in Broward County.
Impact Award
The Impact Award will recognize current contributions that are significantly expanding with potential to impact greatly throughout their life. This will give homage to “Leaders of Tomorrow” including persons who may not have been previously awarded for their contributions but are paving the way for new ideas, innovations, concepts, and future impact in Music, Arts, and Culture in Broward County.
